Release of the Turtle

Isn’t that a beautiful sight? (Click on image for a bigger view) I live a few minutes by car from this lake, I should go there more often. :p

We finally released that turtle today. It was not a red-eared glider like I had said before, but a painted turtle. The top part of its shell is dark coloured, but underneath it’s very pretty, almost like it is painted. The poor thing refused to eat anything we tried to give it, so we thought it was best to let it go. It looked soooo happy (and so small) when it finally was allowed to swim freely!

I think she(he?) did! After it swam around for a while, it poked its head up in the water. It really looked like she/he was watching us leave. smile

Ooh, a painted turtle, they’re gorgeous. biggrin I’d love to adopt a southern painted, but they’re nearly impossible to find here in HK so I keep a RES (red eared Slider) and a map.

That lake does make a beautiful sight, looks like a gorgeous day over there as well! smile

Yeah, I think the painted turtle is native to North America.

My mom’s friend did have a red eared slider, in HK too! smile Did you find your turtle in the wild or buy it from a store?
