There’s this study saying that humans feel loyal to their computers. I can agree with that, I’m attached to my laptop, it’s my little electronic baby. It’s more of a friend than a pet (e.g. Tamagotchi).  I customized it to look exactly the way that I want it and it works great! I’ve given my computer a name - Absolut Magic. And I’ve even named my 2 hard drives - Gold and Silver.

I like seeing what other people have named their computers. It’s even more interesting when you have to name groups of computers at a time. At my university they started naming their machines after Asterix and Obelix, and then moved into names in Gaul. I know at LiveJournal they started with the characters on South Park. I was also surprised to find an RFC on choosing a name for your computer!
