Smallbeer on the pMachine forums posted a neat trick on how to get friendly URLs for categories. I tried it, and it works!

It involved editing most of my categories, which took a while. I don’t really think that this feature request is going to be implemented anytime soon, so this is the only way to get it working now.

There was one problem I ran into while implementing this. The front page pulls content from several different weblogs, so the use category name in links feature didn’t work. I got around this by creating another template, which I called browse. The browse template contains entries just from the main weblog. Then I had all of my category links point to the browse template instead of the index template.
