All right! The site is back online again. It was delayed, as usual.
I changed the layout and updated EE. The boring details are behind the cut.
Also, if you’re member here, you should edit your profile and set your mood theme to “random”. Then it’ll display a random mood theme on every page reload. I love it.
Here are a couple of notes regarding the new layout:
- It’s ridiculous how many templates I had to alter. Anyway, I did some template renaming. I have a lot of embedded templates. I renamed all of those embedded templates to have an underscore in front of the template name. That way it’s easier for me to differentiate between embedded templates and full templates.
- I finally put the Snippets plugin to good use. The comment listing/comment form/preview on this main weblog, the media log, and the 2 galleries all share the same template code. I only have to update it in one place! The one downside to this is that the gallery templates all say that trackbacks are disabled, even though the gallery module doesn’t even allow for trackbacks.
- I added breadcrumb links on some of the sub-pages in the other section. I’ll probably add even more later. I added this in because sometimes it gets confusing as to where you are, and those sub-pages aren’t directly linked from the menu on the top.
- The Portal has been revamped for the 125726th time.
- Tweaked the CSS Switcher plugin a little bit. Before, it would set a cookie on every page load. Now it’ll only set a cookie if you switch skins. (I haven’t got any skins yet though.)
- I started indenting the code. If you look at the source of the page you can kind of see it in action. Since I use embedded templates the indenting doesn’t match up, but the indenting really helps!
- The flower image at the top is from morgueFile.
Still to do:
- Make sure it all validates.
- Figure out all breadcrumb links.
- Caching. The site is running really slow at the moment. It’s partly because of my host and partly because I have embedded templates everywhere.
Update the error template. I want to style it so that it’s like the member profile templates.
- Make a new skin!
