Moving Entries
Tuesday, September 27, 2005
I’ve moved some of my older entries from here to another weblog, using phpMyAdmin. With ExpressionEngine you can do that within the control panel but I had a lot of entries that I want to move. EE so needs a bulk editing mode.
All entries from before January 2004 are now archived. That’s three years worth of entries. They’re still accessible to me, I just don’t want them to be public any more. It feels kinda nice now that they’re gone, I should have done it sooner.

Inline Editing
Tuesday, May 31, 2005
I got inline editing to work with my blog, using the standalone entry form, Solspace’s form helper plugin, and ajax. Check out this animated gif (64kb) for an example.
When you click on the edit link for an entry, a javascript function is called, which retrieves a page with an edit form. The edit form is loaded in the place where the entry used to be. When you press the Update button, another javascript function is called, and it sends the form contents to EE, which then updates the entry. The page is refreshed automatically, showing the newly updated entry.
Would anyone be interested in finding out how to do this? It takes me forever to write up a tutorial, so I thought I’d ask to see if anyone was interested before I started writing anything. ![]()
Edit: I’ve written it, the post is available here.
Ajax. Keywords. EE. Very cool.

Edit: Sigh… Either people were too polite to point it out, or they didn’t read the article yet, and I hope it’s the latter, but I must have reset the keywords page to its old content. I’ve updated it now. *feels really embarrassed*
There’s been lots of discussion about Ajax (asynchronous javascript + html) recently. I didn’t pay any attention to it, because I didn’t think I’d be able to use it (it involves javascript, and I don’t understand javascript). But I just played around with it, and wow, it’s so cool! ![]()
Yesterday, when I was browsing the pMachine front page, I found a link on Ajax at Dutchcelt’s weblog. He has this mini-calendar which uses Ajax to go backwards and forwards between the different months. It looked pretty easy to get it running. I didn’t want to want to do the same thing with my mini-calendar though, because I don’t click on my mini-calendar that often. So my next thought was to try something with the keywords page for my links blog. You should go there and start clicking on stuff.
And then come back and finish reading this article, because I’m going to explain what I did.

Fotobuzz! And ExpressionEngine
Tuesday, November 30, 2004
Update 04/17/05: Instructions are updated for Fotobuzz 0.2.
Thanks to BlogExplosion, I came across jluster.org which then led me to FotoBuzz. FotoBuzz is this flash/javascript/php viewlet that allows you to add annotations to your jpg images. I had to try it out on my screenshots gallery. It was really easy to install and didn’t take long to integrate it into ExpressionEngine.
I wrote up a little tutorial on how to get it working with an EE photo gallery.
