Animal Ringtones

Sunday, October 31, 2004

I just read a Wired article about cellphone ringtones that are realistic animal sounds. Well I listened to some of the samples that were given in the article (chimpanzee, kookaburra, siberian tiger, etc.) and I really can’t believe that they’re popular! If I heard someone’s cellphone screeching like a chimpanzee I wouldn’t be able to stop laughing.

My cellphone has some animal ringtones already - a cat, horse, and bird. And some other melodies that I’m not too crazy about. I wish it had a normal ringtone that sounds like a regular phone would.

Lunar Eclipse

Thursday, October 28, 2004

There’s a lunar eclipse occurring tonight, the only eclipse until 2007.

I was outside watching the skies at 9:30pm, but there were clouds everywhere! I kept on going outside at 10:30, 11:30, and then 12:15 (I watched Van Helsing in the middle of that, which does have moons in it too). At 12:15 the clouds had finally cleared and I saw it. Looks like I missed most of the different stages and the red/orange colours as well sad. But what I did see was absolutely beautiful! The moon was so bright.

Edit: I did try and take a photo of it, but all I got was a whitish blurry blob. Here are some better pics.

I like this - a review of a popular computer accessory - the kitten. There are some adorable pics too.

New Feed URL

Friday, October 15, 2004

Thanks to Jannah I’ve added a feedburner feed to my site. Feedburner takes your RSS feed and republishes it in different formats so that it can be supported by all sorts of clients and aggregators. The coolest thing about it (IMHO) is that you can splice other feeds into it. Right now I’m splicing my furl feed into it. You can also splice your flickr account, del.icio.us, and Bloglines clipblog, and there are lots of other options too. So subscribe to the new feed now! All of the current feeds still work so you don’t have to worry though.

Do you ever hate thinking up titles for posts?

Friday, October 15, 2004

Also, do you ever think about whether to blog something or not?

Here’s what I’m thinking at the moment right now. I might as well make it into a post:

- My dad is playing his classical music CDs right now, it’s very soothing.
- Windows XP just asked me if I wanted to install an automatic update but it didn’t tell me what the update was for. Before I upgraded to XP Service Pack 2 it used to tell me. I’d like to know what I am installing before I install it.
- I always open new links in Firefox in a new tab. There’s no history in the new tab so sometimes I forget from where I clicked the link in the first place. Like today, I found out how to hide text ads from gmail and I can’t remember how I got there. smile

EE Links

Wednesday, October 13, 2004

I’ve put all my EE links into my old pMachine installation. It’s now viewable here. From the main menu, you have to click on the Other to see the link.

These links are the ones I used to have in my Spurl bookmarks. I didn’t want to use Spurl any more though, so I went with pMachine. The thing I don’t like about pMachine is its lack of support for multiple categories.  I had a hard time trying to place the links in one category only. But the good thing is that it’s really simple, and it allows me to find what I want really fast. And I can always use the search too.

Separation of Life and Television

Monday, October 11, 2004

I read a post on LJ linking to a band called Private Idea, and they’ve written a song called “Separation of Life and Television”. It’s a song written about Pacey and Joey, from Dawson’s Creek! That is so cool. There’s been tons of fanfic, fanart, etc. written about Pacey and Joey, and now there’s fan music! smile You can listen to the song on the website or download it as an mp3.
