Gmail Give Away

Wednesday, September 22, 2004

The people at spreadfirefox.com are giving away free gmail invites. To get an invite, you have to have a website with a link to the spreadfirefox site. I’m going to donate mine to them.

And… I think that site looks so pretty! And clean!

I whine, but I really brought this on myself

Q: ouch Why oh why do I have so many skins? And so many templates? And so many blogs?

A: ME! It’s all my fault!

I created all these blogs, and you know what? There are two others which I haven’t displayed yet because I haven’t created the templates for them. AND I want to create two new ones!

I’m sooo tired of updating everything. Not the content, but the templates, the design, etc.

Testing Acronym Module

Saturday, September 18, 2004

Let’s see if the Acronym Module works (it started out as a plugin). The module looks so neat. Someone should make a Randomizer module. I used the Randomizer plugin, but if I want to change the text that’s displayed, I have to edit a file and re-upload it. It’d be easier to access it through the Control Panel.

I also wanted to mention how it sucks that you can’t search for words that are less than 3 characters in length. Because sometimes I want to search for references to EE, MT, or WP on my blog and I can’t. But DVD, CSS, and MSN are searchable.

The Sims 2

Saturday, September 18, 2004

I got the Sims 2 yesterday, and I’ve been playing it pretty much in every spare moment. I love it! The game takes a while to load, and once in a while it freezes, but otherwise it works fine.

I tried out the Windows XP Game Advisor (via a link from the LJ community) and it said my laptop didn’t meet the requirements for The Sims. That’s when I learned that my computer only had 192MB of RAM (I thought it was 256!). And I didn’t have the right graphics card. err I’m glad the game still works though.

I made a two-couple family and named them Monica and Chandler. I made a huge mistake though. I gave Monica the Family Aspiration, so she likes to cook and clean, plus she’s super neat too. But I gave Chandler the Romance Aspiration, so his major fears are getting engaged/married, which is exactly what Monica wants. Right now I’m having them just live together, I wonder what it’ll do to Chandler if I make Monica propose! smile

Taking my time

Wednesday, September 15, 2004

I’ve been attempting to fix my site for several hours now. I keep on getting distracted - first it was the World Cup Hockey Game (Canada won!!! over Finland)  and then it was a phone call, etc. etc. I keep on getting logged out of the Control Panel ‘coz I take too long! Now I’m too lazy to work on it any more. :p

This morning I got an email with the title ‘More Gmail invites’. The message was from the Gmail Team, and had a form for you to complete to get your ‘Gmail invitation package’, asking for your email and password.  Of course this is not from the Gmail team, so beware! I actually missed the email address and password fields when I read the email, and I thought it really was from Google. But I did look at the message source to find that the form was submitted to a formbuddy.com, and then realized it wasn’t legit. Now when I open that email, there’s a warning message from Google.

Fall TV

Monday, September 13, 2004

Tonight’s season finale of Six Feet Under was amazing! It’s my favourite episode of the entire season. Which sucks, because I want to see more…  pout

But there are a few of the new shows I’m looking forward to this TV season…

Joey (Sept. 9) - the spinoff from Friends. I watched the premiere on Thursday night (I missed the 8pm premiere, but it showed again at 11pm so I got to watch it, thank goodness). To be honest I didn’t find it that funny. But I’m going to watch it anyway.

Hawaii (Sept. 1) - NBC kept on showing previews for this show when they were airing the Olympics, so it got me curious enough to watch. Plus it stars Eric Balfour, who played Gabriel in Six Feet Under.

Lost (Sept. 22) - the show where a bunch of people are stranded on an island. I want to watch it because its creator, J.J. Abrams, is also the creator of Alias. It stars Ian Somerhalder, who I remember from Young Americans.

Both Hawaii and Lost air at the same time, and on the same day, so I don’t know how I’m going to watch both.

Drew Carey’s Green Screen (Oct. 7) - I loved Whose Line is it Anyway, hopefully this show will be just as funny.

Survivor (Sept. 16) - it’s the 9th Survivor already? Wow. I watched the first two Survivors, stopped watching until All-Stars, and so now I want to continue watching.

Survivor and Joey are both on at the same time, but Global (the TV station) will probably have Joey run right before Survivor, like before.

As for shows that are continuing from before, I’ll be watching Alias (but not ‘til January) and Judging Amy (Sept. 28).

( There are more ... it looks like I have a lot of television to watch don't I? )

Hrududu

Friday, September 10, 2004

I’m back from Ottawa. On the road I always try to look for foreign license plates (by that I mean ones not from Ontario or Quebec). I saw cars from New Brunswick, British Columbia, Virginia, New York, Pennsylvania, and Florida.

There was this one really, really cool license plate I saw on the way to Ottawa. There was some construction on the highway, the lanes were reduced, and since everyone had to slow down, I could see the license plates better. There was one car from Ontario that said HRUDUDU! If you’ve ever read the novel Watership Down, a hrududu is a car or a tractor in rabbit’s language.

I love this word. It’s so fun to pronounce. ;)
