Programs

Tuesday, September 28, 2004

I converted my programs list into EE. (I had previously made a list of the programs installed on my computer.) You can view the new list here. It took forever to cut and paste in the info.

Plush Alarm Clock?

Tuesday, September 28, 2004

I saw this entry on The Red Ferret Journal about a plush cassette shaped FM radio. I think it’d be cool if they had one that was an alarm clock as well. At least once a month I knock my alarm clock onto the floor when I stick out my hand to turn it off.

Site Maintenance Schtuff

Monday, September 27, 2004

A couple of things:

- I changed the permalinks of all the weblogs. Which means that my last 10 entries will probably show up as new on your RSS aggregators, sorry.
- The member list, profile, and other sections have finally been fixed! They match whatever skin you’re using, too.
- The monthly and category archives look much prettier now.

No Pings

Sunday, September 26, 2004

Ooops. For the last few entries I’ve forgotten to ping to Pingomatic and the pMachine site. I turned off pinging by default because I’ve been importing some entries into EE (manually! so exhausting) and I didn’t want those entries to keep on pinging.

Company Names

Sunday, September 26, 2004

Wikipedia has a whole list of company name etymologies. I found the story behind Lego very interesting, I learned that Hotmail was named because it included the letters html, and I always thought that LG stood for Life’s Good. smile

Friday Five - Movies

Saturday, September 25, 2004

1) Here are the major films coming out nationwide this weekend: First Daughter, The Forgotten, and The Last Shot. Which are you most likely to see, and why?
I hadn’t heard anything about The Last Shot until I clicked the link, and it doesn’t look very interesting. I’d probably see Forgotten first. And watch First Daughter when it comes out on DVD/cable. smile

2) What’s the last movie you saw in the theater?
Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. Which reminds me, I haven’t finished the entry I wrote up on it yet.

3) Okay, your eyes weren’t watering because you accidentally rubbed popcorn salt in them, admit it already! Last movie that made you cry in the theater?
I’ve never cried in a movie theatre. I think the last time my eyes watered during a movie was Titanic. And also there’s The Lord of the Rings, but those were tears of joy.

4) What was the year’s most underrated film?
I don’t know. :p

5) Overrated?
Troy.

Do Not Call

Friday, September 24, 2004

The Canadian government is thinking of having a national do not call registry. As a consumer I think it’s a great idea. Also, the Canadian Marketing Association has a registration form on their website that removes your name from marketing lists.

.info domains from 1and1

Friday, September 24, 2004

Now 1and1.com are offering up to 25 free .info domain names. I want to register an interesting domain name, like useful.info. I just have to think of something that isn’t already taken.

Edit: Dotster is doing this too.
