I’m on the Map
Wednesday, January 14, 2004
Pinging weblogs.com works fine (yay!). I realized that since I added two meta tags in my html header with my location coordinates, I also show up on the World as a Blog. It checks weblogs.com, and your site coordinates, and then displays your location live (within a few minutes) on a map! It’s been fun watching little blue squares pop up all around the world.
...
Earlier I renewed my domain name for another year. When I was doing that, I thought about registering for another one. I’ve had a domain name in my head for a long time now, and whenever I remember it I’m tempted to grab it now before someone else gets to it. The problem is I wouldn’t know what to do with the domain.
Now this would be a great domain name to have. Or mischiev.io.us or dev.io.us or dub.io.us or myster.io.us.

I just enabled pinging so that :pmachine: notifies weblogs.com everytime this site is updated. Hope it actually works.
Friends Reunion?
Monday, January 12, 2004
The cast of Friends has been offered $2 million each to shoot a reunion episode, taking place one year after the finale. That’s a lot of money! They’re going to be shooting this reunion episode right after filming the last season ones.
Friends has been around for a long, long time, and I guess I will miss getting new episodes when the show finishes, but I’ll be happy as long as they show the reruns on air. It’s such a popular show, that I hope they will continue have reruns for a while. After all, there’s still Seinfeld reruns showing.

Another PNG image of my site

url2png is a service that converts your front page into a long PNG image. You can check out mine here, which is what my site looks like before I posted this entry.
There’s something weird going on with the sidebar, but I think I know what’s causing it.

Edit: I finally got it fixed, check it now!
Trouble finishing
Monday, January 12, 2004
I seem to have developed this problem of starting something and not finishing it. Let me list out what I mean by this. I have one layout (skin) for this site that was 85% finished two weeks ago, and I haven’t touched it since. I have another layout for my :LJ: that’s also 85% finished, but I haven’t put that up either. It’s like, once I get the hard part done, I get bored with the whole thing and don’t bother to finish!
Then there’s also blog entries which I’ve started and haven’t completed yet. I have a total of .. 6 .. closed entries right now, because I started writing something up and then forgot about it. But whenever I go back to an entry and start typing, [the time and mood I was in when starting it in the first place] is gone.
Even while typing up this entry, I’ve been losing interest and opening up other tabs to view other pages. Pathetic, huh? I’ve got to start getting focused.

[sight]:: Name 2 things that annoy you on/about television.
Commercials and network channels that break to commercials at the worst possible moment. I could add a third thing, and that’d be the fact that some channels have better sound than others, so I have to fiddle with the volume whenever I switch channels.
[taste]:: Name 2 of the worst tasting foods or drinks you ever had.
Salmon, and one type of fish soup.
[smell]:: Name 2 smells that you can’t stand and why:
If I’m exposed to either for extended amounts of time, I can’t stand cigarette smoke and air fresheners in cars. I don’t like cigarette smoke because it’s unhealthy. And regarding air fresheners, when I was young I had to go on these long car trips in my relative’s car, which I didn’t particularly enjoy. My relative had this strong smelling air freshener in their car, and I would always get headaches from them.
[touch]:: Name 2 things (objects, body parts, etc…) that you don’t like other people to touch and why.
I don’t like people massaging my shoulders, because it hurts. And I get protective about my laptop, which is why it’s set up so you have to log in with a password first!
[hearing]:: What are the 2 sounds/noises that most irritate you and why?
The sound of someone scratching their nails down a blackboard is the worst sound I have ever heard, it makes me shiver, and I don’t know why. Another one is the sound of my alarm clock in the mornings, since it means I’ll have to get up from bed. ![]()

Journey of a Man

I tried to create a portrait of my face using this flash app. They have a selection of features which you can move up and down and stretch etc. However, I couldn’t produce anything that looked like me. I found a reasonable nose, eyebrows, mouth, hair, and ears, but not the face shape or the eyes. My face is a lot rounder than the ones they had, and my eyes have like no eyelids.
It was pretty interesting, though, by looking at how the facial expression can change just by sliding the eyebrows up and down.
If you submit your face, too, you can see a gallery with other user submissions. Although some people had fun with constructing their faces. ![]()

I’m still alive
Wednesday, January 07, 2004
I can’t believe it, I haven’t posted in this blog for two weeks already! How time flies. I have a lot of blogs to catch up on, as well as my own. ![]()
In short, the holiday was great. I got to:
- relax
- play video games (we got my cousin FFX-2 for Xmas and it’s addicting, except I still can’t grasp the concept of garment grids)
- go shopping (got a new pair of shoes for one!)
- eat at lots of family dinners (and saw some of their honeymoon pictures from Spain .. sooo many beautiful shots)
- watch DVDs (there’s a library nearby where you can borrow DVDs for a day - there was a great selection of movies!)
- tried to learn about the Linux Operating System (but I’m still quite clueless)
We set up a router at my parent’s house, so that I could get internet access on my laptop, but I didn’t use the Internet much (after Christmas) except to download stuff. I felt like getting away from it all.
