The Passion of the Christ is a film by Mel Gibson, and it looks at the last 12 hours of Jesus Christ’s life.

This was a very controversial film both before and after its release. After I watched it, I can’t really see why. It was extremely graphic and violent, for sure. I cringed a lot. But I didn’t feel it was anti-semitic at all.

The movie didn’t really explain much about the background story, and I didn’t remember much of the story when watching, so I had to look it up afterwards.upsidedown

Everyone in the movie spoke Aramaic, which is the ancient language that was actually spoken at the time. I thought it added to the movie. It must have been so hard for the actors to learn that language. Also, I liked the soundtrack, it felt appropriate for the movie.

Another thing is that I saw this movie on DVD. I was surprised to see that there weren’t any special features included, besides the subtitles and audio options. I wanted to watch a making-of clip or maybe Mel Gibson’s commentary.
