Frodo Baggins, a hobbit with very little adventure in his life, is suddenly visited in his home by Gandalf the wizard and 13 dwarves. He accompanies them on a long journey to the Lonley Mountain, to get back the treasure stolen by the nasty Dragon Smaug.
I’d been meaning to read this book for years before I finally got around to it. I enjoyed it very much. I can just picture those dwarves having a merry time singing songs at Bilbo’s house, huffing and puffing as they run from the goblins deep within the tunnels of the Misty Mountains, or grumbling at Bilbo to get them out of whatever situation they get stuck in. It’s a much easier read than the Lord of the Ring trilogy and I wish I’d read this book first.
You know I didn’t read the introduction to the book until much later, and that’s when I learned that goblins are actually the same as Orcs!
