The story is set in Africa. Tessa (Rachel Weisz), the wife of a British diplomat Justin Quayle (Ralph Fiennes), is found brutally murdered out in the desert. The man who was travelling with Tessa had disappeared. Justin, who was devastated, goes on a mission to find out who killed his wife. Through flashbacks, we learn how Justin and Tessa met, and Tessa’s suspiscious behaviour before she died. As Justin digs deeper he discovers what his wife was working on, and that some powerful people who were behind his wife’s death – people who now would kill him, too. The movie is based on a novel by John Le Carre.
This movie started out slowly. I loved the soundtrack, and the cinematography, but I was bored with the story. In the second half of the movie it started making sense and by the end I realized I liked the movie. Ralph Fiennes and Rachel Weisz, as well as the supporting cast, were great.
I think Ralph Fiennes is hot only when he’s all scruffy and sweaty with stubble on his face. Like on the cover of the movie’s soundtrack. If he’s clean shaven and tidy he does absolutely nothing for me. ![]()
