Olivia Joules is a newspaper reporter who wants to be a ‘serious’ journalist, but instead is stuck writing articles about style and fashion. She gets sent to Miami to cover the launch of a face cream. There, she meets Pierre Ferramo, a rich movie producer who she thinks is Osama Bin Laden. Ferramo seems to be quite taken with her, so Olivia uses her spy-skills to find out who this Ferramo guy is and what he is really up to.
The book was written by Helen Fielding, author of Bridget Jones’s Diary. Even though the book cover mentioned that Olivia isn’t like Bridget, I was still expecting it. There was a part in the book where Olivia was missed an article deadline, and she says “I. Am. Do. Ing. It.” to her boss, which reminded me of Bridget.
But other than that there aren’t many similarities.
I tried to like the book, but I couldn’t. I just didn’t enjoy the story. There were also so many characters to keep track of, characters that show up for only a bit and then leave again.
