Alias is a TV show that has recently finished its third season. It’s about Sydney Bristow, a secret agent who was recruited into an operation called the SD-6. She was led to believe she was working as part of the CIA, and she had to keep her job as a secret from everyone she knew. When she told her fiancee about her job as a spy, SD-6 had him killed. That’s when she learned that she wasn’t working for the CIA, but for the enemy that she believed she was fighting against. Sydney then became a double agent, continuing on with SD-6, but giving all of her intel to her CIA handler, Michael Vaughn. Season 1 is about her life as a double agent, having to lie to her friends and co-workers, and about developing a relationship with her estranged father, who also happens to be a double agent.

I started watching Alias during the middle of Season 2, and I missed everything that happened before that. With the DVD, I was able to watch Alias right from the start - and it felt very strange! There was a lot I didn’t know about the characters, like how bad Sydney and Jack’s relationship was, how Sydney’s mom was involved, or how Will started investigating the death of Sydney’s fiancee. I didn’t even know that Vaughn wasn’t field trained! And, I knew the answers to some of the questions that Sydney was asking, because I’d seen them in later seasons. The continuity was amazing.

I wouldn’t recommend watching each episode all at one time, though. Almost every episode ends in a cliffhanger, and I of course had the advantage because I wouldn’t have to wait another week to see what happens. I ended up watching as much as 4 episodes in a row, and to be honest when you do that all of it becomes a blur.

This DVD really was worth watching, as is the show. There are also lots of extra features on the DVD set, like audio commentary and deleted scenes, which I haven’t watched yet.
